Types of Tournament

Players start with a fixed number of chips in a multi-table tournament. Players at numerous tables compete for one another's chips as the blinds and/or antes increase incrementally. As players are eliminated, tables are "broken", which means players are re-assigned to keep tables full, or even with one another. Eventually, the last few surviving players with chips are assigned to the final table, where the winner is the individual who wins all the chips from his or her opponents. Cash prizes are awarded to top finishers on the basis of number of tournament entries.

SATELLITES

A smaller tournament which has a buy-in amount lesser than that of multi-table tournaments. The prize won in a satellite is an entry into a larger tournament. Multi-table satellites are scheduled as regular tournaments and the sign-up details and play are identical.

An example of how a satellite would work: The buy in for the larger tournament is $200+$20. The buy in for the satellite is $20+$2. If there are 10 entrants (into the satellite), first place will get an entry to the larger tournament. If there are 20 entrants then 1st and 2nd place will receive entry to the larger tournament. If there are 23 entrants, 1st and 2nd place will get entries to the larger tournament and 3rd place will get a $60 prize.

The cost for entering a tournament or a satellite is denoted by stating the buy-in amount and the entry fee. A cost of "30+3" indicates that the buy-in is $30, and the entry fee is $3. The $30 goes to the prize pool which the players compete for, while the $3 entry fee is taken as compensation for hosting the tournament.

FREEROLLS

A player does not have to pay any buy-in amount or entry fee to play this type of tournament. However, there are cash prizes that can be won.

The "Sit&GO" tab in under the "Poker Tournament" or "Omaha Tournament" options can be clicked to enter tis type of tournament. We offer 5 kinds of sit&go tournaments:Single table: 10 players. Pays top 3 places (50%-30%-20%).Two table: 20 players; players are randomly assigned across two tables. Once nine players are eliminated, the two tables are combined into one table. Pays top 4 places (40%-30%-20%-10%).Multi-Table: 2-table, 3-table, and 5-table Sit & Gos. Players are randomly assigned a table, ten players per table. When ten players are eliminated the remaining tables are combined. Combining continues until there are only ten players left in the tournament. Information about the prizes awarded can be found in the tournament lobby.

REBUY TOURNAMENTS

A type of tournament where you have the option of buying more chips(conditions apply), when you run out of them during play.

Useful facts:

There is a "rebuy period" at the beginning of the tournament. A typical rebuy period might be the first hour of the event (until the first break starts), after which no more rebuys are permitted.

You are automatically offered a rebuy (if one is available) if you completely run out of chips.

The rebuy could cost any amount, but normally it is the same as the original buying and gets you the same number of chips that you got for your original buying.

The number of rebuys during the rebuy period may be fixed or unlimited.

An "add-on" may be available at the end of the rebuy period. Typically, this is during the first break. An add-on implies just one extra rebuy. The add-on is not automatically offered to you. To take the add-on, wait for the message "Players are now on break." The add-on may cost any amount, but generally costs the same as the original buying, and gets you the same or higher number of chips than that you got for your original buying.

A Rebuy is not charged a rake as is charged during the original buying. For instance, if a rebuy tournament has a buying of $20+2, then the rebuys will usually be $20 and all $20 of each rebuy will go into the prize pool.
